Kiteboarding is growing at an unbelievable rate. It is one of the most exciting new water sports and loads of fun. Along with the fun does come some risk. The kites used to kiteboard are very powerful and have to be used properly. To help you learn to kiteboard in a quick and safe manner, Go Kitesurf Lesson Center offers lessons in the Cape Fear Area.
Whether you are starting from scratch or you just need some supervision and advice, our lessons will work for you. All lessons are Jet Ski supported allowing to provide "By Your Side Support." This means when you are in the water, the instructor is at a safe distance behind you telling you what to do and there in case you need assistance. The ski is also used to take you back up wind to the launch site.
Where do we do the lessons? We take you on the jet ski to a secluded, flat water area so you will not have to worry about obstructions, ocean waves, and people getting in the way. We use different sites depending on the wind direction so that we have the best winds possible.
How can you make the lesson most productive? Having some trainer kite skills or controllable kite skills can help you progress through the lesson better. If you have not flown a trainer kite or a controllable kite then we will have to spend a bit more time on land teaching you to fly a controllable kite and getting you comfortable with it. So, getting a trainer kite to practice with before the lesson can help a lot and be loads of fun. The trainer kite will teach you how the kite fly, what the wind window is, where the power zone is, and much much more. We sell a few different trainer kites. They all come with kite, bar, and lines. Check them out in the trainer kite section. You can even rent a trainer!

Experience the excitement of kite power! In this lesson, you will learn how to set up and fly a controllable traction kite. Our instructor will introduce you to the wind window, power zone, power stroke, and safety considerations. 80% of kiteboarding is the flying the kite. This lesson will build a solid foundation for your future as a kiteboarder!

| The Go Kitesurf Lesson

This lesson covers everything from the Ground School course. In it you will also learn how to set up and fly a full size inflatable kite, body dragging, self rescue, rider responsibility and water starts with a board. We also go over important Meteorology and wind considerations as well as kiteboarding theory and much more. After this in depth lesson you will walk away with a very good understanding of the sport and with the ability to go out and continue to teach yourself. Our PASA certified instructors use proven techniques to get you up and riding quick and safe. This lesson is jet-ski supported allowing the instructor to be ”By Your Side” at all times for safety and coaching. We provide all the equipment you need for this lesson including kites, board, harness, booties, vest and helmet.

The Go Kitesurf Lesson is taught as a group lesson. We never have more than 3 students to one instructor and normally it is no more than 2 students to 1 instructor. This lesson is 5-6 hours long and can be taught in two section on different days or on the same day.

Be the V.I.P! Get your own private instructor, complete with a jet ski for ”By Your Side” support. We will cater to your needs. No matter what skills you want to learn our experienced instructor will help you master them. Some examples of skills we can help you master: transitions, jumping, upwind riding, carving turns, and spin tricks. We can also teach you how to self launch and land, how to use a 5th line bar system, or maybe you just want more water time with the comfort of ”By Your Side” jet-ski support. We can provide all the gear you need for the lesson or if you have gear you want to use we can us that gear. You call the shots because you are the V.I.P!

After The Lesson
After you have taken a lesson, had a great time, and learned loads of basic kiteboarding skills what comes next? Different people do different things. Lots of people get hooked! Kiteboarding is like no other sport and is very addictive. Once you get a taste, there may be no stopping you. You may be ready to come down to the shop or give us a call and talk to our experienced staff about what gear is right for you. You can get your gear and we will help you get going on your own. Remember that you could get up to 40% of the cost of your first lesson credited back to you in the price of your gear!
(The lesson credit cannot be combined with any other special offer. The full lesson credit applies to a new complete kiteboard setup at regular price. Some gear will be excluded from the lesson credit. Partial credit may be given on individual items depending on the item.)
You may feel that you need some more time learning the kite skills so you could come down and buy a trainer kite. This isn't a bad thing in any way. The kite skills are the most important skills in kiteboarding. The more you fly a trainer kite on land, the better your kite flying skills will become. You CANNOT fly a trainer kite enough! If you aren't sure what should be the next step for you, come on by or give us a call. We will talk to you about where you feel you are and what you want to to. We are here to help you!
Or you might want more lesson time with our instructors and jet ski for "By Your Side Support." Many students like to come back for more lessons which continues to accelerate their learning process. Our instructors will evaluate where each student is in there learning process and help them become a better rider! We also listen to what the student wants to learn and work towards those skills. It is always more fun and easier to work on new tricks with the support of a jet ski and instructor for advice.
